The Plug- Compatible Machine (PCM) is Back!
Our Liberty Servers are complete Plug-Compatible Machines (PCM’s). Do you remember when you had alternatives from companies like Amdahl, Hitachi, Fujitsu, and others? With the Liberty Server, those days are back. In fact, the technology behind Liberty was originally developed by Amdahl Corp., the company that brought you the original PCM.

The new Liberty Servers are based on proven architecture spun-off from Amdahl and utilize industry-standard Intel® Itanium® 2 processor technology. This unique combination results in unequalled cost advantages over proprietary mainframes. Liberty Servers run z/OS, z/VSE, OS/390, and VSE operating systems This broad compatibility, along with breakthroughs in I/O virtualization, makes the Liberty Server the ideal solution for bridging the proprietary mainframe and today’s open systems environments. And if your mid-to-long term strategy is to migrate your applications off the mainframe, your investment is protected because you still have a state of the art, high end, Itanium2 server that will also run Windows, HP/UX, and Linux applications!
And if that wasn’t enough, we’ve created the Liberty Virtual Tape (LVT), which is a virtual tape controller and storage device for Liberty Servers. LVT emulates mainframe physical tape drives on an open storage device via an ESCON channel connection to the Liberty Server. The LVT is compatible with z/OS, OS/390, and VSE, and performs with or without a tape management system. It operates transparently to the operating system and reads and writes tape data sets to the storage unit with no program or JCL changes. The LVT supports up to four ESCON adapters. Each adapter can emulate up to 32 IBM™ 3490E tape drives, enabling up to 128 virtual drives. And these are just the beginning of the LVT benefits. The LVT is integrated within the Liberty rack unit and is available with up to 2TB of storage capacity and can be custom configured to meet your exact needs.

Did we also mention that freedom of CHOICE also means competitive pricing? Put quite simply: our Liberty Server will do everything your mainframe requires…. for about half the price! How can this be? In addition to the analysis of your existing environment to help determine the right Liberty solution for your needs, t3 provides complete installation and implementation of your Liberty Server. t3 Technologies' installation services include pre-delivery Systems Assurance, installation planning, assistance with connectivity configuration and integration into your existing network, and console and administrative training. Your installation checklist will likely be customized during our systems assurance meeting prior to your installation.
On-site hardware support for your Liberty Server is provided by Hewlett-Packard. With over 65,000 Customer Engineers worldwide, HP has the largest field services team in the computer industry! Three-years of HP’s renowned 7 x 24 warranty with 4-hour on-site response time is included in the price of your system. In order to provide you with the
unparalleled support you deserve, three years of 7 x 24 telephone support with two hour response time is provided by t3, and is also included in the price of your system!
